ABOUT

I am a classically trained tenor with a huge amount experience both on stage and in the concert arena. I have sung in operas, musicals and in concerts all over the world. I have sung for royalty and celebrities at venues large and small. Here is a video of me in action:

Recent big events include: a concert for around 20 royals at the Royal Palace in Oslo, Norway Day Celebrations in London attended by the Norwegian Ambassador and  a lavish society wedding at the Chateau Rothschild, a concert at St Petersburg Philharmonic Concert Hall attended by Russian Ministers alongside international Mezzo-Soprano, Sarah Connolly.

My most recent opera work includes singing the role of Mario Cavaradossi in ‘Tosca’ at the spectacular Minack Theatre in Cornwall, Don Jose in ‘Carmen’  at the King’s Head Theatre in Islington, The Duke in ‘Rigoletto’ in a UK tour, Tamino in ‘The Magic Flute’ in a UK Tour, and Edmondo in ‘Manon Lescaut’ at the Queen Elizabeth Hall.

In 2008 I signed a record deal with Sony BMG and recorded an album of classical versions of my favourite pop songs. The record deal was very much marketed on my other career – as a dentist. I sang live on TV, did multiple interviews on radio and kicked off the PR for an album release. Unfortunately it coincided with Sony laying off swathes of staff including all those in charge of my album release. The album remains unreleased and the rights have reverted back to me. Here is a link to a blog post I wrote about my experiences and the full album.

I also perform a one man show which I have written myself about 1950’s singer and movie star, Mario Lanza. It is an hour long drama packed with the songs which made Lanza famous. I have performed this to rave reviews in theatres and as a dinner show to great effect. Click here for more information about Lanza:

I have also performed in numerous musicals both in the west end and on tour. These include ‘West Side Story’ for Pimlico Opera, ‘Les Miserables’ for Cameron Mackintosh, ‘Whistle down the Wind’ for Bill Kenwright, ‘Beauty and the Beast’ at the Watermill Theatre and many others. I toured Norway and the USA  in a one-man musical version of Ibsen’s epic poem, ‘Terje Wigen’.

Andrew Bain has a remarkable voice. He gives us a performance that sends shivers down our spine, and sometimes it was so silent in Moster Amfi that the famous pin drop would have been like a thundercrack.BERGEN TIMES

I regularly sing for charity; recent events include a large scale concert in the Great Hall at Hampton Court Palace alongside numerous celebrity actors (attended by the Duke of Gloucester and Sir David Attenborough), Pembroke Lodge (attended by Princess Alexandra) and the Chelsea Old Town Hall.

TESTIMONIALS

“Den Norske Klub (The Norwegian Club) booked the wonderful tenor Andrew Bain to perform at our annual Gourmet Dinner at the Norwegian Ambassador’s residence after seeing him performing at a charity event. At our dinner he brilliantly performed excerpts from Composer Kjell Ole Haune’s musical Terje Vigen and then rounding off with a splendid rendition of Nessun Dorma from Puccini’s opera Turandot.

Andrew’s performance was so popular among our members so we decided to book him again for our 200th Anniversary of Norway’s Constitution Dinner, where Andrew treated us to a number of songs from his part in Les Miserables. Both of Andrew’s performances received standing ovations and are among the highlights of 2014 for Den Norske Klub.“
